World Green Infrastructure Congress 2023: A Global Assembly
The esteemed World Green Infrastructure Congress reconvened in Germany after six years, drawing a record attendance of nearly 1,100 delegates from 41 nations. Organised by Bundesverband GebäudeGrün e.V. (BuGG) in Berlin, the event solidified its status as the premier global forum on ecological building practices. The concurrent expo showcased 60 exhibitors, and the proceedings were accessible via live stream.

Spanning three days, the congress offered a rich agenda for professionals ranging from urban planners to government officials and industry stakeholders. It featured two days of expert-led sessions and a day dedicated to on-site tours, all under the auspices of the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building, and the Berlin Senate Department for Environment, Urban Mobility, Consumer Protection, and Climate Action. The robust lineup included 95 presentations by 107 experts from 28 countries, covering innovative research, urban greening strategies, and the latest in eco-friendly building techniques.

The first two days comprised intensive sessions on sustainable architecture and green infrastructure, emphasising climate resilience, rainwater management, and biodiversity. The concluding day featured seven guided tours to Berlin's green landmarks, organized by Humboldt University's Institute of Agricultural and Urban Ecological Projects, attracting over 300 attendees.
Supplementing the educational sessions, the exhibition area provided a platform for 59 industry players to display their innovations, alongside a poster showcase with contributions from 12 countries, highlighting the vibrant community and progressive dialogue fostered at this landmark event.
